Why ITAP?

I decided to join the ITAP program because I saw it as something that integrated well with my goal to work in higher educations. Knowing that I aspire to become a professor, it made sense to me to begin learning about instructional design now.

The First Module

For the first module, I was asked to write about my own educational philosophy and interview a professor on their own philosophy. This was an excellent way to start the program and got me thinking about pedagogy in context.

Leadership

The second module focused on leadership and management skills. We were asked to read and think critically about some of the content of First Break All The Rules as well as the topic of emotional intelligence.

Wired Student

The third module focused on the relationship students have with technology. Thinking critically about how we use technology, something I’ve often taken for granted having grown up, was extremely enlightening, especially given the wide variety of opinions held by the different apprentices.

Digital Storytelling

This module focused on how visual storytelling methods could be incorporated into the classroom. It got me beginning to think about how many of the things we had learned in previous modules could be applies practically.

Real Experience

As I was working through the modules, I was also assisting in helping other students set up wordpress blogs on their own domains, this culminated in me beginning to run WordPress workshops independently by the end of the year
